Le séisme : la métaphore d’une enfance blessée dans Le Jour du séisme de Nina Bouraoui

Abstract

Abstract : Le Jour du seisme by Nina Bouraoui traces the suffering of a child terrified because of her hybrid identity (of a French mother) and sexual identity (a woman despite her young age). Doomed to confinement and separation from her loves, she gradually loses her emancipation and her taste for freedom. To express this violence, Bouraoui resorts to an apocalyptic event: the earthquake of October 10, 1980. This event announces the collapse of the life of the author/narrator. The earthquake metaphor governs every moment of her existence and its tremors will mark her forever. In this novel, seismicity contaminates not only the narrative framework but also the writing, revealing a text torn by grammatical and typographical flaws. Résumé : Le Jour du séisme de Nina Bouraoui retrace la souffrance d’une enfant terrorisée à cause de son identité hybride (de mère française) et sexuelle (une femme malgré son jeune âge). Vouée à l’enfermement et à la séparation de ses amours, elle perd peu à peu son émancipation et son goût pour la liberté. Pour dire ces violences, Bouraoui fait recours à un événement apocalyptique : le séisme du 10 octobre 1980. Cet événement annonce l’effondrement de la vie de l’auteure /narratrice. La métaphore du séisme régit chaque instant de son existence et ses secousses la marqueront à jamais. Dans ce roman, la sismicité contamine non seulement la trame narrative mais également l’écriture, donnant à voir un texte tiraillé par des failles grammaticales et typographiques.
