Abstract

Abstract : The article “Gendered Epilinguistic Discourse in the Medina Market of Rosso (Mauritania)” explores language practices and attitudes in the markets of Rosso, Mauritania. The study focuses on how men and women perceive and use different languages in the social and commercial space of the medina market. Through a gender-based approach, the authors analyze the linguistic choices of speakers and the values associated with the languages used in daily interactions. The study shows that language reflects social roles, cultural identity, and power relations between genders. It also highlights how multilingualism in the market influences communication and social relationships within Mauritanian society. Résumé : Cette étude à quatre mains nous emmène sur les marchés de Mauritanie. Son objectif de est d’étudier le marquage linguistique sous le « regard genré » les attitudes vis-à-vis des langues employées au marché de la médina, à Rosso.
