Nomadisme, déterritorialisation et altérité interculturelle dans L’Arbre à dires de Mohammed DIB

Abstract

Abstract : Rooted in a literary problematic centered on nomadism, this article aims to analyze the characteristics of polycentric writing in Mohammed Dib’s L’Arbre à dires. Through an exploration of the work’s socio-historical and cultural dimensions, the study seeks to uncover the intercultural and labyrinthine foundations shaping the representations of Being and Humanity. Drawing on theoretical frameworks related to minor literature and exilic writing, this critical approach interrogates the mechanisms of scriptural deterritorialization and the symbolic configurations of becoming and otherness. L’Arbre à dires emerges as a literary space of aesthetic and ontological experimentation, where memory, exile, displacement, and identity coalesce into a multidirectional and fragmentary narrative structure. From intercultural otherness to literary nomadism, the work unfolds a transversal and mosaic-like vision of the world, breaking with linear and monolithic representations. Dib’s writing explores the dynamic tensions between rootedness and wandering, memory and oblivion, fixity and transformation. Our analysis focuses on the stakes of this ever-shifting poetics, which embodies a literature of thresholds, crossings, and perpetual metamorphosis.
