Abstract

Abstract : This course in semiology builds on the foundations of general linguistics acquired during previous years of study. It aims to deepen students’ understanding of the concept of the sign and of systems of meaning. The course approaches semiology both as a branch of linguistics and as a field concerned with the study of signs and their meanings in various contexts. It also presents the main perspectives of both American and European linguistic schools regarding the definition and conception of the linguistic and extra-linguistic sign, as well as its functions, nature, classification, and interpretation. The course seeks to enable students to develop analytical skills and a better understanding of meaning-making processes in different types of discourse.

Résumé : Ce cours de sémiologie s’inscrit dans la continuité de l’enseignement de la linguistique générale acquis lors des années précédentes. Il vise à approfondir les connaissances des étudiants sur la notion de signe et sur les systèmes de signification. Le cours aborde la sémiologie comme une branche de la linguistique qui étudie les signes et leurs significations dans différents contextes. Il présente également les principales approches des écoles linguistiques européennes et américaines concernant la conception du signe linguistique et extralinguistique, ainsi que ses fonctions, sa nature, son classement et son interprétation. L’objectif est de permettre aux étudiants de développer une capacité d’analyse et de compréhension des phénomènes de signification dans divers types de discours.
