Abstract
Our current research focuses on the development of the professional skills of radio journalists
in initial university training and in the field. It was therefore a question of establishing a
bridge between professional didactics, our disciplinary field, and radio journalism. To do this,
we conducted an investigation at the level of the information department of the Faculty of
Information and Communication of Algiers and at the Algerian radio Algiers channel III by
adopting a mixed research method. Indeed, our survey relies on the use of various
investigative tools (content analysis, semi-structured interview, questionnaire, activity
analysis).
Our empirical study revealed, for the first context, the reality of journalism training provided
in the information department. As for the survey conducted among journalists of Algiers
channel III, it brought us elements of response on the development of the professional skills
of practicing journalists and which relies mainly on the practice and effort provided by the
journalist.
Since the main purpose of professional didactics is to design training systems appropriate to
the needs of the field of practice, it was discussed, after the completion of our survey, to set
up a training system for French-language radio journalism whose purpose is the acquisition
and development of the professional skills necessary for the exercise of radio journalism in
the field.
